VHS Tapes
Not Accepted
DO NOT place this item in a City of Omaha curbside recycling cart or drop-off site container.
VHS tapes should be placed in the garbage if they cannot be reused.
Tip: While VHS tapes are NOT accepted, an EMPTY plastic booklet-style case (with VHS tape and paper insert removed) is ok to place in the recycling.
Did You Know
The tape inside of a video or audio cassette is made with a metallic material covered by a plastic shell. Additionally, there are sometimes small metal parts that hold the plastic cassette cover together. Because these materials are very difficult to separate, tapes are not easily recycled through traditional methods. Audio tapes and VHS tapes should be placed in the garbage when they cannot be reused.
