Omaha Recycling Guide

Spiral Notebooks

Some Restrictions Apply

PC Spiral Notebook

ACCEPTED: Paper Covers & Pages with Spiral Binding Removed

Place only paper covers and inner paper pages from notebooks in a curbside recycling cart or drop-off site container.

  • Tear out and discard any spiral binding
  • Only paper is accepted
  • Keep items loose and do not bag

Tip: Grab one end of the spiral binding and pull. It should unwind easily from the paper. Discard the spiral in the garbage.

PC Spiral Notebook

NOT ACCEPTED: Plastic Covers or Spiral Bindings

DO NOT place notebooks with intact plastic covers, spirals, or metal bindings in a City of Omaha curbside recycling cart or drop-off site container. Place this item in the garbage if you cannot remove the metal or plastic parts.

Where Else Could It Go?

Notebook covers made from plastic can be placed in an orange Hefty® ReNew® bag. DO NOT include any metal or paper in the orange bag.

FirstStar Recycling offers this special program to collect hard-to-recycle plastics in our community. To participate, you can purchase orange Hefty® ReNew® bags, which will be collected through your existing curbside and drop-off site services. When filled with accepted materials and tied shut, the bright orange Hefty® ReNew® bag is the ONLY bag that can be placed in a curbside recycling cart or drop-off site container.
