Plastic Mesh & Poly Bags

Not Accepted, Alternative Options Available

PL Mesh Poly Bag

DO NOT place this item in a City of Omaha curbside recycling cart or drop-off site container.

Place plastic mesh bags (also called poly-woven bags) that held products such as bulk foods or rice in the garbage, or use an alternative option.

Tip: Confirm what material your bag is made out of. Bags made only with plastic have an alternative option available. Bags made with mixed materials (like a paper outside lined with plastic) should be placed in the garbage.

Where Else Could It Go?

EMPTY and CLEAN plastic mesh or poly-woven bags can be placed in an orange Hefty® ReNew® bag. Remove any metal parts, paper, or string before placing it in the orange bag.

FirstStar Recycling offers this special program to collect hard-to-recycle plastics in our community. To participate, you can purchase orange Hefty® ReNew® bags, which will be collected through your existing curbside and drop-off site services. When filled with accepted materials and tied shut, the bright orange Hefty® ReNew® bag is the ONLY bag that can be placed in a curbside recycling cart or drop-off site container.
